How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

I have an old pillow. Once the rest of them laid in the morning, I throw the broody one out of the box and put the pillow in there so they can't climb back in. I take it out early next morning so the other behaving ones can lay eggs. Usually it just takes a day or three for the broody one to get the idea it's NOT happening

First ever 7 egg day!!! I have 8 layers, 3 that will probably start soon. And then there's Wanda Beth...she's one year old today. Officially a hen. And yet....

Get what we called exhibition crates. All wire dog crate set them out so wind goes under her skirts keep her there.
No food or water in that time either.

12 today. May have figured out the problem? I hope... Turkeys were bullying everyone. They’re getting a separate run and house built this weekend. Currently contained until its complete.

Goose also has a bald spot, which I thought he was preening too much and pulling some feathers out. Nope! The female turkeys were eating the emus feathers! Another good reason to separate them...

6 out of 11 girls. It would have been 7, but I dropped one and the dogs ate it!

I still count those. The chicken gave you an egg. Whether it gets to the incubator, frying pan, or dog’s belly is up to us.
