Yes! That's called water glassing. Why I have no clue. It seems the eggs can last one year or more. I think I like the freezer method better.I am going to preserve a bunch using calcium hydroxide. That's also called pickling lime, but it doesn't pickle, lol.
What I'm going to do is take a 5 Gallon bucket put 3 gallons of distilled water and 1.5 cups of calcium hydroxide in it. Then carefully put they eggs in. They say to put the eggs in pointy side down which will be the hard part.
The other issue is you have to use clean eggs with the bloom intact.
I have tried everything I can think of to get more clean eggs, I get a few but the majority are dirty. The only thing I can think of is to give them an enema in the morning...but that's definitely not going to happen!
