How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

No eggs for about a month now. I have no (commercial hybrid) winter layers and most hens are 3+. I am buying organic eggs in the shop now.

One hen is still moulting. Until this is over, I give them a break. Next month I want take down the led lights in the outside Xmas tree 🌲 And hang these in the coop/run. 💡
Well, even the hybrids molt and take a break like the rest, unless you put lights on them. I rotate the older ones out every year and raise new babies in the spring and still have to buy a carton or 2 from the store.

We are hoping to get enough eggs in the summer to waterglass some for winter next year.

Still no eggs, counting days to solstice.

Let's see, it's been a while. Charlotte, the EE, is still the only pullet laying, though one of the older hens was up in a box today, so I'm hopeful! Char laid an egg on the floor both yesterday and today, because I wasn't here to police her. She's been laying two eggs every three days or so, so I probably won't get one tomorrow.

Four eggs out of 24 hens. Most are just coming off a hard molt but I don't expect much with the short days. The ones that are laying were hatched at the end of April. There are 8 of them, and of course they didn't molt. I'm a little disappointed they're not producing better, actually. There are 4 SS, 2 FBCM, and 2BCM. Today I got an egg from a yearling EE, two chocolate eggs, from the Marans, and one light brown, which I assume was from one of the SS. Not complaining; a family of four does not need a lot of eggs and of course they are as delicious as they are beautiful! :love

10 Eggs today!
They are picking up the pace after molting and the supplemental light is working like a charm!
8 Of the eggs are beautiful large eggs from the main coop.
and a silkie egg for Sally and a D'uccle egg

Although those are far far away from being as many as expected a day (I have 78 laying hens but about 30 are 3-8-month-old pullets) I am excited to have my olive egger laying again!

10/18 usable eggs

Today had a high of -22f (-30C) so despite several trips out in the cold that literally takes your breath away, 4 good eggs froze (and cracked) and one hen laid an egg with no shell on a shelf which quickly froze to the shelf. I will have to take a shovel to scrape it off. Ugh.

ALL of them been on vacation for a few weeks now :X

The two little ones are supposed to start laying right about now, literally ANY day now. I have not seen them act up, like making the preps to do so though which has me wondering.

They got plenty of protein, plenty of food etc etc.
They free range AND I have kept them caged for a week when I had a hawk issue, still no eggs however to be honest, I know at least two of them are molting now....

Still waiting for baby girl, and mugshot to start laying. Middle of December IS 26 weeks.
