I've had chickens for my entire life, but you never get used to losing them. Especially when it's so sudden. She was a sweet girl. And such a good mom.

My 5 year old brown leghorn passed away this morning. I was surprised, yesterday she wasn't acting off in any way shape or form. But she was laying on the floor of the coop this morning.

4 eggs birds do not like the extreme heat any more than we do.

Yesterday my birds got to leave their run into the new electric fence. Our dogs came around and "tested" the fence and scared the pullets. So i got 6 eggs yesterday. Today the dogs were not let out. 12 for 12 today !

Maybe give him some time to fit in. Whenever I've added roosters to adult hens, the ladies almost never accept him straight away. They have to teach him some manners first.
