I was just telling hubby how the chickens were slacking today !!! I usally get 15-25 eggs per day and only got 6 today

SLACKERS !!!!!

Just a trick to get your hens popping those eggs out like cannon balls, get Kalmbach feed. The chickens love it. They also free-range every day which makes a difference in their egg production I think.
I got 17 eggs, from yesterday and today combined, from 11 hens, 3 of which I don't think are even laying

We found one of the silver laced wyandottes, Feather Zedd, dead when we checked on the ladies yesterday. She was fine the day before so I don't know what happened.

Got another 6 eggs today. And who knows, I might get one more if I'm lucky.

I grabbed a box of produce scraps at the store this afternoon; red cabbage leaves, kale and lettuce. Plus celery and button mushrooms, neither of which my chickens seem too thrilled about, which is OK because the uneaten stuff will just make the chicken compost better.

I chopped some of it up into bite-size-for-chickens pieces and tossed them into the run.
