How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

That’s lovely 🥰

Only 6 ♥️

They are way into their molt and finally slowing down. Our biggest, fluffiest hen woke up one morning and half of her cape feathers were gone. When I went out to the pen she looked up at me like, "What happened?" Poor ladies!

We typically use eight eggs a day so if it stays lower for too long I'll have to buy some eggs. 😱 That's very motivating to get some more chicks in the spring... 😁

Do you like egg nog? Might could google a recipe for it, that could use some up right quick (of those store eggs). Or an angel food cake, that'll do it! Oh wait, maybe both. I think the cake takes whites and the nog needs yolks. Like a dozen of each.

Do they have oyster shell always available? Mine do but when my pullets started laying I was getting "jelly" eggs for a while. On the advice of some of the Educators here I stuffed some Calcium Citrate +D3 (Citracal) tablets down a few beaks for a few nights, got them fixed right up! The pills look big but just pop one in their beak and they'll swallow it right down. Someone pointed out that they can swallow a mouse whole so it's no problem. Also if you put the pill in water, they have to drink a whole lot of water to get the proper dose of a pill.
Egg nog, custard, eggs benedict with Hollandaise Sauce or just home made mayonnaise. .....yummy!

Don’t know what I did, but my question to you eating all of those eggs was referencing the 1734. I’m still wondering what we’ll ultimately be doing with our anticipated 600 a year. I suppose free eggs for friends and family will be on tap.
I shared my extra eggs with friends and families. My 2 dogs used to have half an egg each every day until they developed an allergy, so now I am not give them any egg for a long while.
One day I found my dogs poop blood, I was in shock and no food for a day, only water. The blood poops were less, next day only commercial dog food, less blood, and the day after no more blood. For a week it was no blood, I feed them half an egg each again and came the blood poops. Now no egg, no blood poop.

I feel it’s late in the year for moulting. I haven’t had a new moulter this weekend so hopefully they have all ended their moulting. It’s turning cold again so they need their feathers!

Have you tried cooked eggs? Or were they getting cooked already?

Poor pookies!
