I hope her shells get stronger! One of my hens last year (she was only 1 year old), laid thin shells all the time, though she had just as much calcium as the others. She had a habit of drinking too much water, and I think that was the cause. Maybe all that water flushed the calcium and electrolytes out of her system before she could use them.

I started giving my girls soaked fermented feed, and it stopped her guzzling water, even in the summer heat. Her eggshells have been totally normal since she started back laying in late winter. I can’t say for sure, but I believe the soaked feed is helping

Very interesting! I’ll have to try that I suppose! Guess I could add in some egg shell too.
I’m honestly not sure if the eggs are accidentally broken or not… I’m assuming an accident but who knows.

14 today. Two are pullets first eggs

(7/21) Collected 7. 5 duck and 2 chicken. There was another broken duck egg though, so 6 laid.

(7/22) Collected 7. 4 duck and 3 chicken. Another duck egg was broken yet again, so 4 laid.

9! (7/23) 6 duck and 3 chicken!

Good morning all! It’s back to hot and steamy here after a few days of cooler temps.

A few of my ladies are moulting and a couple are broody (brats!) so egg production is down. Yesterday I received 16 eggs two were from my bantams - the keep those for myself, I don’t sell them.
