How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Some of our chickens came up the stairs to the back door once and saw one of the cats. They skedaddled so fast they actually used their WINGS! Mostly they just clamp their wings to their sides and run (because they think they are dinosaurs I guess

). My wife said that one of the Cubalayas flew past her as she was walking back up from the barn yesterday. Probably figured there could be treats coming since the BOSS and scratch have been kept in the house. I finally did get two 10 gallon "utility" cans. Look like mini metal trash cans except that have a bale handle that kind of clips over the lid rather than 2 handles. The handle could use some padding when you have 40# of scratch in them.

4 eggs today. One Large EE and one Cubalaya by 9 or 10. An XL, probably double yolk, Ancona (from the one that DIDN'T already do that) and the "mystery" egg that might be a Faverolle or a Chantecler before noon. The first 3 were in the nest box. The last was in the indoor run outside the coop. I guess she didn't see, was unimpressed by or scared of the lovely yellow and purple plastic egg I put in the box.

By friendly I do mean not aggressive. My girls will not be coming in the house anytime soon. They have plenty of room in their own coop and run.
I have a 1 year old granddaughter that I want to be able to help me in the coop with the chickens. I would not want her to be attacked by one since she is much closer to their level. She is very good with her dog ( and vice versa) so I will not allow her torment them either.

7 /11 today.

Edited to: Switch the Chantecler and Faverolle egg labels. Found a Faverolle in the new "radiant floor 'heat'" nest box (re-purposed horse grain corner bin) this morning. After she left, I found both her more rich brown egg AND an EE egg. That is 3 days in a row for Andromeda!

6 today. But something strange.... I have been getting a dark brown egg regularly. All the eggs were light brown today. (I have 6 that lay shades of brown.) Do the colors change is day, or are they pretty consistent?
