How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

How do you freeze them?
Very gently mix the yolk and white of an egg, don't want to add air. I put each one in a silicone muffin cup in a muffin tin and freeze. The frozen eggs will pop out of the silicone easily once frozen, then stored in freezer bags. Not good for sunny side up but good for baking and scrambled eggs. You can easily keep fresh eggs in the refrigerator for 45 days.

I'm not going to be adding light either - we often have very warm Septembers (usually around 25-28c) so are mine likely to start that early (or is it more a light thing?) but wow that is quite a while off the lay!
It is all about the amount of light. In theory they need 14 hours of light to lay in the winter though I'm not sure I understand that. Mine have typically started back up sometime in February when the amount of daylight is well less than 12 hours. I wonder if the slowing increasing amount of light has something to do with it.

It is interesting isn't it as at least one of the 3 laying girls I have I read that they rarely stop laying in winter or very briefly so interesting how it all works!

4/4 again today although the last was very late and I saw her sitting after lunch but then forgot to go and check so the egg was out in the heat all afternoon (29c - is that just under 100f??) will the egg still be OK to eat?

Ours didn't lay until 30-32 weeks. Laid a few then stopped for the winter and picked up again in late Feb. They were worth the wait for the beautiful dark eggs.

6 today.
They look close... bah! I don’t want to wait two more months!
