Only 1 so far this morning.
Now have 4 live chicks - 1 died in the shell trying to get out and I'm waiting to see if the last few will give anything

That's not a silkie egg in my picture, that's from an EE (Glinda is a BA); either Smokey, ObLiDi or Strawberry Shortcake as they all lay turquoise eggs. I included an SD card for scale.

5 for 5 on my normal layers and 2 bonus silkie eggs. The silkies seem to be picking up.

3 / 3 but one of them was in the run and was 'odd' again but in the same way as I get a couple of times a week. Can anyone shed any light? The eggs are kind of rough almost like they don't have the nice shiny smooth layer on top and tend to be slightly mottled in colour when it happens too. I'm presuming it is just a young pullet still getting sorted (they've been laying 3 weeks or so) but is there anything else I should consider?
Only 7 eggs in my basket and I need to make a big quiche tomorrow for an organic plant sale that a local farm puts on - everyone brings food / drinks to share. Last year I had some wonderful home made beers and wines to try and lots of food from home made produce so am excited to be able to offer something home grown from my garden (I'll use my shallots, fresh herbs and swiss chard as well )

Ok, they are officially laying maniacs, The 4 I got earlier must have been from yesterday evening(I didn't check again after around 5pm which means I got 7 yesterday because I just went to feed and got 6 more
I would say they definitely are all laying that means. I've seen with the camera that they all were looking to be laying with exception of the Delaware but with 7 yesterday and 6 today that means they all should be.
Ugh, these were all supposed to be meh laying breeds lol I am definitely going to have to look up some recipes involving mega eggs.

Egg nog takes 12. Angel Food cake takes 11 whites but then you have to figure out what to do with 11 yolks. Chocolate truffles take 2.

Can anyone shed any light?

Pictures of the weird eggs maybe? Mellory likes to "decorate" hers with clusters of teenie tiny calcium balls. They can be rubbed off. Never had a hen do that before.
