How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

first egg from third hen today. it is small and brown-speckled but perfecto. the other two have been laying an egg each almost every day too. i fear i will be overloaded with eggs soon - maybe time to get back to baking? haha

i wonder what the deal is with their eggs are though - i thought people were eggsagerating (so sorry) about how yellow and 'solid' and tasty they are. is it because they forage in the garden all day? they make store-bought eggs look like a watery mess. so yellow and fluffy. i don't even like the whites but even those had fluffiness and flavour. eggs eggs eggs

thanks for your help guys

Squirrel was killed by a bird of prey yesterday. :hit This morning I dropped the Welsummer off at the vet, I don’t expect a good outcome from that. I think she has Marek’s.
Very sad on both counts! I REALLY hope the Welsummer doesn't have Marek's. REALLY REALLY. Because if she does the others very likely do as well. And it can live outside the birds for years in the soil which makes it nearly impossible to get rid of once you've got it on your land. :(

Marek's article

I got 3 eggs from 6 chickens yesterday and 2 from 5 chickens today. Squirrel was killed by a bird of prey yesterday. :hit This morning I dropped the Welsummer off at the vet, I don’t expect a good outcome from that. I think she has Marek’s. So tomorrow the egg count could be from 4 chickens.
I have found it pretty hard to maintain a small flock of 6.
Oh Sequel, I’m so sorry about Squirrel. She had a wonderful life and was well loved. She was such a good girl, I’m sure Jesus grabbed her up for His own flock right away and she wasn’t hurt. I hope that helps. She was a good friend, and you were a good friend to her. Our Lord won’t let that go. He never does. ❤ :hugs

Edit: I was so moved by Squirrel’s death I missed the part about your Welsummer!😢:hugs ✝ Praying for her now. Please keep us posted.❤

16, but two showed evidence of an egg being broken and eaten. Who knows how many are missing.
I know, I hate when there is dried egg "stuff" on other eggs in the boxes, you never know how many are actually missing. I had a half soft half shell duck egg today, no teeny tiny ones today. So 2 duck eggs and 19 chicken.
Edit: make that 23 chicken eggs...

@Sequel let me know if you have Mareks it is true almost impossible to pull back from
there is a many articles here about it
The vet did think it was most likely Marek’s. She recommended euthanasia which I expected. Those pullets I got last summer were not vaccinated, so we’ll see how the other two do. Needless to say I won’t be doing that again.
Oddly enough Squirrel had lost the pigment in one eye so I suspected she might have had ocular Mareks. She also had a huge beard and muffs so vision was obstructed quite a bit. She was vaccinated for Mareks.
Thank your so much for your kind words, losing two in two days is a record for me but these are interesting times we’re having, yeah?
I tried the multi quote but never did it so thank you Penny, Victoria and Bruce,

It's crazy that we have to deal with poultry illnesses & can't just raise happy chickens/birds without worrying about all that other mess. I think I have infectious coryza in my flock, but not officially diagnosed.
