How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

I’ve been getting 4-5 per day since winter set in. Three birds are going through a molt so laying has slowed (compounding with shorter days, etc.). There are two birds however, probably the Rocks that are laying some interesting eggs. One is laying oblong/football shaped eggs and another has made two huge eggs on back to back days. I am feeding them all an 18% feed with mealworm snacks.

Here are the eggs.

You are probably right about those eggs being from Rocks. I have a barred rock that lays oblong eggs and another that lays duck sized eggs with 2 yolks several times a week.

This is our first year here, so I don’t have things set up the way I’d like to yet. They had a well ventilated, insulated coop free of drafts but it still gets so cold and it’s just so dark in there. We hit 18 below yesterday so I moved them into the greenhouse where it was slightly warmer with more daylight. What’s your set up?

Meal worms to often can cause fat birds.
