How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

I got 4 today.

3, eggs yesterday, 4 eggs today.

A new record for me - 20 eggs! Would have had 21 but someone is laying soft eggs which are breaking in the nest boxes.

Six yesterday, only 2 (brown) today; all three Rainbow Girls took the day off - that very rarely happens! (But all 3 laid yesterday and have been laying consistently all during these dark months, bless 'em.) I do love finding those blue or green eggs in with the many shades of brown from their flockmates.

3 today! This time Juillet really did take a break.

Poor Août was trying to nest outside again. I realized eventually that the spot in the bedding she likes to nest in was overdue for some new flakes. After freshening up the coop she ran right in to lay. I’m going to try filling a nest box with bedding flakes instead of grass to see if that entices her.

Poor Août was trying to nest outside again. I realized eventually that the spot in the bedding she likes to nest in was overdue for some new flakes. After freshening up the coop she ran right in to lay. I’m going to try filling a nest box with bedding flakes instead of grass to see if that entices her.

my my similar to my girl Poki, there’s 5 nesting box for all 6 of them girls but she decided to lay eggs outside with no privacy I almost stepped on her egg this morning! I changed from pine shavings to straws but still the rest of the girls only use one of the 5 nesting box.

8 eggs laid today, unfortunately one was off the roost & broke, and another was super brittle and broke in the nest box…second time that happened, same box, same color.

This weekend I’m holding off scraps and feeding layer feed and wet mash layer only to see if that helps. I think I have a picky eater who isn’t getting enough calcium…

I am sorry to hear. I had one egg that was too thin two weeks ago I saw it broke. Have you tried oysters shells like manna pro one? I startes using it about 8 days ago and the egg shells have really improved! I still add vitamin B booster to their organic layer feeds. I hope it helps with your dilemma.

I’m glad you managed to not step on any eggs! The rest of my girls all share the same box now, but Août is special and lays under the roost bar, which can get quite dirty. She’s on a 35 day laying streak though, so I don’t really want to force her to fix her nesting habit yet since it’s clearly working for her! Maybe a nest box full of clean flakes will be more appealing than the soiled bedding she’s used to.
