How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Depending on the size of the tree you plant it should be at least 2 and could be 5. Starkbros.com lists Granny Smith apples planted in zone 8 can take 2-5 years.
I am in Australia, and I don't know what zone I am in. I will check that out.

The 2 years is good! Granny Smith is a tasty apple.
Apple pie, apple cider vinegar, apple juice, apple salad and many apple cakes...... must get that tree!

We have been having very bad weather since last year, and I have not like my garden so much, I cut and trim so many already. Still that garden in me want that apple tree. ......👣👣 to find that Granny Smith tree.... only 2 years......

I'm building cover runs for my coops one by one. I think I can plant dwarf apple trees in them for the girls. They would have to be topped at 6' which wouldn't be a problem. Shade would benefit them in our hot summer months. They might even help increase egg production from happier hens.
Dwarf apple tree is a great idea! It is easy for me to manage and can be planted in a chicken run.

4 eggs today, from Août and the pullets :)

11 today. Hurting too bad to sort. Will do it in the morning. Snowing and cold. Cold weather for the next several days. It's 10° right now (9 pm). Expecting up to 12" of the ehite stuff over the next couple of days. We'll see if that puts them off laying but I don't expect it to, they are still getting a good 12 hours of light every day.
Been a bad winter here - have over 3’ of snow in the paddocks, o need to shovel off the house roof this weekend.

My poor chooks take one look out the barn door and run back inside hahaha - wimps!

My cousins husband yep the snow is that deep.

I had to clear the snow on my propane tank so the guy could fill it, also had to dig a path to it - I am getting too old for this crud; the snow is over 3’ deep there, the top of the propane tank is about 4’ at the bottom of that orange cap.

Did I mention I hate winter?

Meanwhile my chooks had a slow day with eggs, only 14 eggs today.

So sweet your little hen Pudding. Cute name too!
Before I joined BYC, each morning I used to go online to look at chicken photos, weekend I spend more time looking at chicken photos.

Since I joined BYC, I stopped going online looking at chicken photos because I love all the chicken photos and stories I see and read on BYC.😍
I keep saying I will need a second barn soon if I keep getting chooks haha. But I have enough now, maybe in a few years I will get a couple Brahma.

I have so many apple trees they are like weeds here hahaha.

You will need an apple tree that has been bred to produce in a hot climate, normally they require a cold (read freeze there) to set the buds for the fruit. But there are varieties that can handle climates where there is no frost.

It’s so funny, I want mango trees which will never ever grow here. Isn’t it funny how we want the ‘exotic’ fruit trees? I am just happy I can have my Peach trees 😊♥️
