Oops! I meant hens with KITTENS!

It was the light bulbs that worried me! Kittens have sharp parts but not like broken glass.

Eggs can break too. Hens are pretty careful with what they're sitting on. But maybe that's said not to be taken literally, but just to point out that a broody hen doesn't know or care what she sets on, she's just compelled by nature to set.

Yep Clover is 100% a Broody Bum right now!

Coriander is trying to go into the nest to lay her egg, while Clover makes her cranky velociraptor noises at her. Poor Coriander seems restless and cannot settle into a position comfortably.


I really need to set up some multiple nests that are in the same location...

Coriander finally laid her egg! She managed to lay it next to Broody-Bum Clover. Now she's singing her egg song.

I was thinking to convert the porch cupboard into a long nesting boxes, but I might as well just go buy a couple of proper nesting boxes so I don't wreck my cupboard.

At dusk I'll shift Clover to the perch in the coop while she is dozy, then set up the new nesting boxes.

6 from 6. I let Mister out to free range and thought it would help with integration but unfortunately I came inside to check on dinner and he wandered too close to the dog outside and she killed him. I'm really about ready to just put a bullet in my 22 and put her down. I'm also mad at myself for letting him out.

Yes, I am on a big Island Continent - Australia.
I live in the city area and about 1 hour drive from the beach so the cyclone damage is mostly impacted the coastal area. Although it had weaken when it reached land, it still do many damages, but much lesser if it was in its full force.

The rain stopped yesterday afternoon, water receding, the sky still looking like more rain is coming. I am yet doing any clean as I am expecting some rain again. My poor chickens hate it to the end of the world and I hate it double it.

Worms treatment will be next week, and whatever ailments chickens get after so much rain....Grrrrrrrr
