How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Found it! I thought one my Banty hens was brooding last week as she was MIA a couple nights. Plus her eggs had gotten sporadic lately. The other Banty hen had not laid an egg since Fall til a couple days ago. I just now heard squawking from the barn and was able to take a good look around and found a nest of 7eggs in an old water bucket in an empty stall. Five from Jade and two from Goldie. The Golden comets are either freeloading or I haven’t found their nest yet.

12 eggs laid today but one broken in the nest, DH said. He collected today, I am still laid up with this knee although I am starting to walk on it a tiny bit with the aid of two canes. Hobble, hobble, lol.

There was at least one fatality in Poplar Bluff, 30 miles east of me where we do our shopping, from a tornado last night, and I understand, lots of damage. I think we lost a kindergarten, maybe a church and damage to other businesses and some homes. One whole trailer park, I heard, was wiped out. Another tornado did some damage in Van Buren, our county seat, 25 miles or so west of us, but we are good. I heard St Louis got hit with 6 tornadoes but at this point I have not heard of any fatalities! God is good!

Yep - sneaky sneaky sneaky! I have had them lay in the horses’ feed buckets, on top of the straw and hay pile, and my favourite - in the barn aisle - just one random egg sitting there.

I have been hoping that this crazy wind would ease up before I go out to get the eggs but it doesn't seem like that is going to happen anytime soon so I guess I'll just have to deal with it and hope it doesn't blow me away.

Thanks, yeah! Poplar Bluff, where I shop, 30 miles east, had a lot of damage and at least one fatality. Van Buren, 25 miles west, also had some damage. But everything passed at least 5 miles NE of us. We watched it on our TV in the basement. Not the first time, won't be the last.
