How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Congratulations!

The first egg is always so exciting!

Now I'm trying to determine which of my two older pullets laid it. I bought a wireless webcam for the nestbox today and I'll be setting it up tomorrow. Let's hope they lay there, or this could take awhile. I put a fake egg and nesting pad in the box

4 eggs today, from Juillet (in the run, again), Août, Marzo and Helmi.

I think Juin and Brelly are done for the season, and that’s ok with me

Good to know this isn't just a newbie problem, lol.

Got 10 today but 11 laid. All the ducks laid (7), but an egg was broke in the nest and the shell was in the run.
The chicken laid 4 eggs!

Good to know this isn't just a newbie problem, lol.

Yep! They stop laying occasionally for many different reasons.

In this case, my Juin laid over 300 eggs last year (her first year) even though she’s not a production breed. Since winter ended she has laid sporadically, gradually tapering off to nothing by mid-spring. She needs a molt and a reset I think.

Brelly just turned 1 year old in June, and I think she’s just stopping because of the heat. She’s been sitting in the nest box trying to lay for a week or so, but never seems to manage it.

They are said to often live longer if they don’t lay constantly, so I’m happy when they get time off

Edit: I just realized you meant Juillet laying outside the nest box! Sorry!

She’s an oddball, and will just drop an egg anywhere and forget it exists. She also loves wading in puddles, so my theory is she’s under the impression that she’s a duck and not a chicken…

Brelly laid an egg, so I guess I shouldn’t have counted her out before!

Got 8 today (6/25)! 6 duck and 2 chicken.

Collected 10 today (6/26), 7 duck and 3 chicken.
All the ducks laid (7), but there was a broken egg in the nest, and an egg in the chicken run. I must have missed an egg in the coop yesterday, they do bury their eggs!
