How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

They’re adorable! I think you have black sexlinks there, which means they are probably Domino’s (or another barred hen’s) babies rather than Hawk’s. Is that possible? If so, the boy has his dad’s feathered legs :)
I am 100% sure they are Hawk's, since I do know how her eggs look. Domino is the only barred hen laying and her eggs are brown. Hawk lays blue and her eggs look... different, they look like they're from an older hen.

What a mystery! I bet the experts on some of the other boards would be able to explain why you got two different colored hatches.

Regardless, they’re cute as can be, and I hope they grow to be happy and healthy hens!

I'm sure someone would know! I know black is a dominant trait, and my rooster has a lot of black, so that explains the black ones. Not sure of the first one. 😆 I was hoping for more variety, buts its okay!
I will say the black ones have a hint of blue to their feathers, more so underneath them and their chest.

Thank you! I hope so!

I went back to the picture you posted before, and Hawk looks a little like she might have the blue gene and potentially even a barred gene which is hard to see in her light feathers. I know my Août is blue and barred, and her barring is difficult to notice even though she is mostly a solid color. Her tail feathers look almost solid blue, with the tiniest white variation, a lot like Hawk’s. Perhaps your dark batch of chicks are still sex-linked then? If so, it’s great that you at least have two girls from her!

I’d love to see how they feather out, and if any of them do end up being blue :)
