I wouldn't doubt if she has the barred gene, she kind of has some in her hackles.I went back to the picture you posted before, and Hawk looks a little like she might have the blue gene and potentially even a barred gene which is hard to see in her light feathers. I know my Août is blue and barred, and her barring is difficult to notice even though she is mostly a solid color. Her tail feathers look almost solid blue, with the tiniest white variation, a lot like Hawk’s. Perhaps your dark batch of chicks are still sex-linked then? If so, it’s great that you at least have two girls from her!
I’d love to see how they feather out, and if any of them do end up being blue![]()
What breed is Aout? She sounds like a pretty girl!
That would be pretty neat if the chicks are sex linked, I sure hope I have at least two girls. Because the first chick is looking to be a boy.

I'm also hoping the girls lay olive eggs, since Hawk lays blue eggs and my rooster might have the chocolate egg laying gene!
I'm thinking they won't be blue, since they are pretty dark, but we'll see! They sure do have dark blue underneath them though.
