How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

1 egg today, from Août

This weekend is frigid, so we kept our girls inside the house overnight last night, just for peace of mind.

This morning, Août woke us up bright and early needing to lay, but wouldn’t sit in the impromptu nest box. It was only after I brought the leader bird, Juillet, over to give it her cluck of approval, that Août finally settled in and stopped screaming. Silly girls. She laid a lovely pointy egg just five minutes later.

Nuz hasn't laid since I brought Scaley inside. Dove visits the nest box like she might start back up soon.

RIP Scaley. She was the best chicken even if she never laid an egg. No more favorites for me.

Sorry to hear of your loss - we all go through this, and it’s always hard when it’s a favourite.

7 plus one from my wee bantam Mrs Little Chicken. So 8 in total. Likely only get 2 or 3 tomorrow…

And actually got 6 eggs yesterday. Maybe they are starting back to laying. We’ll see what they lay today.

It was only after I brought the leader bird, Juillet, over to give it her cluck of approval, that Août finally settled in and stopped screaming. Silly girls. She laid a lovely pointy egg just five minutes later.

Sure has been chilly here too. Thankfully I am blessed with a warm barn, but still it gets to below freezing in there when the horses are out during the day.
