I need some advice on Darlin. She's drinking water but not eating. Her crop is really inflamed and I have pushed on it and she expelled some yuck but she won't eat. Any advice would be so helpful because she's my favorite hen.

Crop Stasis is the condition where the crop no longer empties for whatever reason. I would withhold water and food for 24 hrs and see if the crop actually goes down

Don’t expel any crop contents, it’s way to easy for the bird to aspirate on the fluid, get pneumonia….. crop stasis leads to sour crop; You can try Canestin anti fungal vaginal cream if the crop doesn’t go down. That’s what I and many here use.

I have been battling crop issues here since last summer. Lost a few to it, my one lovely girl Flopsy I fear will pass soon, I cannot resolve it. And I have no idea why I am getting so many with this. I can only treat the symptoms. Sure hope your wee one resolves this.

The biggest we had was 4.2 my hen was a comet and she regularly laid eggs we couldnt fit in a regular extra large egg carton. A fox got her here at our new house. I miss her and her eggs.

This is egg production related, but is a feed issue, like I said I have 100 birds total right now and they demolished a 50 lbs bag if feed and I gave them three deep dish 9x13 corn cakes with supplemental protein and veggies too, they were still ravenous after that, is that normal ? Could this time of year be making them more hungry ir something?

I put her back in the bathroom with the heater on and this morning she's up and about so I just don't know what to do. I'm still going to keep her inside until she starts getting more active.

I sure hope my girls don’t lay any more whoppers, it’s extremely hard on their system. Have yet to crack it and see if it’s a triple yolker.

I am so sad to hear she isn’t tip top yet. It’s probably better to keep her quiet for at least a week, do you have a friend you can put with her?

I dropped a hay bale on my hand ne hen 10 days ago, thought for sure I killed her. She back out with the gang though, I kept her in a crate for a week. These chickens are going to give me grey hair!
