How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

WOW, that's BIG! It is unusual to get them that large, and hopefully it's just a fluke. It could be a double yolker (or triple I suppose) or it can be an egg within an egg, it just depends. Whenever you crack it, have a camera nearby to snap a pic.

As for my egg count, today I got 9 from 12, pretty good for me for this time of year, only thing is, one broke in my pocket

so one less egg and I got to wash my barn coat... then, the cat decided to explore the table which he doesn't do normally, but he wondered what those roundish things in the bowl were and pulled one out, rolled it around the table and onto the floor. Oooooh, FUN! *SPLAT*

hehe. so while 9 hens out of 12 layed an egg today, I got 7 eggs for the day.

kuntrygirl wrote:Jen, I was looking for another feeding pan for my hens and you just have me an idea. I never thought about the kitty litter pan. Thanks. Great idea and inexpensive!!! I had my eye on a rubber feeder pan at the feed store and it was $9.00. So, I will get the kitty litter pan at Wal Mart today.

Glad I could help ya out

its works great for me. I had it leftover from my Ds b-day we had a fear factor party and I made a cool looking kitty litter cake

Curiosity was killing me so I went ahead and made eggs and sausage sandwiches for dinner so I could crack open that HUGE egg. It was 82.1 grams. The shape was a perfect oval. There was no skinny end like most eggs have.

You were right portagegirl, it was a double yoker. That was also great advise to have a camara ready, but I didn't read your post before dinner. Anyway, the yokes were perfectly normal and the proportion was the same as if you put two eggs in one giant shell.

One of my hens is probably pretty sore from that one

First time Chicken Mama

My Black Star (Ursula) has started laying, almost an egg a day. She started Sept 26, laid 5 days in a row, one day off, laid 5 days, one day off, then 10 days, 1 day off, 3 days, one day off. But she hasn't laid at all for the past 4 days. Is that normal (time of year, less daylight hours?). I felt her "belly" and didn't feel anything. I hope she isn't egg-bound. Does anyone know how to tell for sure? Any other ideas?
