How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Only three eggs on the first visit to the chicken kingdom this morning. 2 rir eggs and one egg from my lone slw. I saw my EE, Sunny going to the nest earlier so maybe I will find another one before I got to work. I still wonder if I ever will get 8 eggs out of my 8 hens???

Got three more eggs on the second trip to the chicken kingdom! Two more rir eggs and my EE Sunny laid a nice green egg for us. So, I still have a RIR who is not layig either at all or not on a normal basis. I have not gotten 8 out of 8 as of yet. Most days I get 6 with a couple of days a week when I get 7! I was so hoping spring would get that slacker rir into the laying game.

The GC's are the best layers! We've had ours for a year now and we got ours here in NC from Shook's Poultry in Claremont. They also were 18 week old started pullets. We got them in three batches of 6, 6, and 7 starting last April, June, and September. Within a month after getting each batch they were laying. We get 17-18 eggs each and every day from our 19 hens. On some days we get 19. Even during the cold wet miserable weather we had here in the mid-Carolinas they were giving us 16-17 eggs a day without fail. You won't find a better layer. And they are really people friendly and hardy. You'll do good with them, I know.

Today we got 18 from our 19 GC's!!! I've noticed a lot of folks here are reporting their Gals are starting to lay in quantity now that Spring has sprung.

We got 4/4 ! Yay!!! 2 Blue-Eggers, 1 brown-egger (black austrolorp), & 1 white-egger (Ideal 236)....That last gal's my best- nearly every day for 2 years! Good Girl, Keeble! Can't wait to see our egg overload when the new chicks are grown!
