I have been getting eight eggs one day and 4 the next out of eight chickens. This has been going on for two months. Is this crazy? Are they going to self destruct? One of the eight is my rooster Jeffery, so he can't be contributing to the count. One of the hens is at least five years old. We live in Minnesota, so I assume we will not get many eggs in the winter. I have not set up supplemental lighting as of yet. I do have a red heat lamp on all the time. This winter has been incredibly warm. I have let they outside during the day, almost all winter. Got cold last night, so they are stuck indoors.
