How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

7 out of nine layers. 2 weeks ago we were lucky to get 2 a day for months. now its full force !!

I got 3 from 4 laying this morning, got to wait for 4 more to start laying.

I've been getting roughly 3-4 a day for the past week or so. I have 12 hens that are about 4 1/2 months old. I think it is my 4 Production Reds that are laying, but my kids dwear that one of the Buff Orpington's is laying too... We have 6 of them, so I would think that more of them would be starting to lay if one of them was... They are all the same age. I know for a fact that at least one of the production reds is laying because she laid an egg right in my son's hand!!
Yesterday, there were only 2 eggs in the coop, but this morning I found another that wasn't there last night when I locked them up. Unusual because they usually lay during the late morning... But on the shelf where they like to roost for the night, I found 2 broken soft shelled eggs. I didn't notice them last night, but all the girls were up there. My kids collected eggs yesterday, so they might not have seen them. I know it is normal for young chickens to lay the soft shelled eggs, but this would make 4 total, and they have only been laying for 1 1/2 weeks...

I just found an egg in a nesting box that none of my chickens ever use, and it is a different color that the other eggs. I think it's another layer! If that is true than I have 5 layers out of 8!
