How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

found this in the national archives from a 1940 census. thought you all might find this interesting.

Mary Jones: I remember along the first of May I got 150 eggs in one day and along in the winter for five weeks I didn’t get any.
Enumerator: I’ll take the high production and add the low, then divide by two which makes 75 per day average. Then multiply by 330, which is the actual number of days in which you had eggs, for there were five weeks in which you didn’t have any. This makes a total of 2,062 dozen. This will come very close to your year’s production.

8yesterday and 8 today!
Gave a dozen to my BIL and a dozen to my nephew! Both were very happy to receive them
We also tried out the pickled eggs we did about 3 weeks ago....yummy!

I'm new to having chickens, I bought six red sex links in March. They laid the 1st egg Aug 1st. Been getting 6 eggs a day almost every day (on rare occasions 5) since the middle of Aug. I was surprised since I was expecting on average 4 a day.
