Sorry to hear that you are having the same problem. It's very depressing

to go out and find 9 - 12 eggs when ur accustomed to getting 3 dozen a day. The girls are not molting, so I know it's not because of that. I wish that I could find and stop the culprit. I'm too afraid to put down any type of poison for fear that my animals will eat the poison and die. I wish I knew how to keep these snakes away.

I found a 5 foot snake on top of my nesting boxes last year. When I killed it, he had a couple of eggs in him.

I think that I have a snake around because my egg production is WAY DOWN!

Hummmmmmmm I wonder if thats why my egg production is WAY down too! I only got 10 eggs from 25 girls (4 our broody).

Sounds like you may have a snake also Jen. Keep an eye out and be careful putting your hands in the nesting boxes.

If I see a snake in there I'm gonna FREAK!

I know we do have a HUGE black snake in our yard and I'm sure there are others... the other day my boys found a lil ring neck snake (I think thats the name, the neighbor was over and told us the name and said they were good snakes and it wouldnt get any bigger). I've been going to the coops alot today and so far I've collected 12 eggs and I have 2 broodies sittin on eggs, dont want a snake to get them. One broody is gonna be hatchin out her 2 eggs soon, 1 has a pip in it.

Six dozen every other week and 2 dozen on the odd week. I have regular buyers so that pays for the chicken feed and I still have eggs for myself. AWESOME.
