How many Eggs did you Sell today?

Sold 4 doz. last night that brings me down to around 9 doz. stored up and now I'm only gettin 1 to 2 eggs a day and might get in a bind to fill orders before the 'ol gals decide to get back on the band wagon. I've been telling my customers what's happening and to don't be surprised if they have to wait a while to get their next round of eggs filled.

A dozen today for $3. We're still getting 17 to 19 a day so tomorrow I'll probably have two dozen to sell. Gotta love them Gold Comets 'cause they're egg laying machines!

I sold 13 dozen today and have one on hold. That's the most I've ever done. I have one customer who bought 11 dozen and a guy who stops by when he's in the neighborhood for a couple dozen .

The Gold Comets are sometimes called Red Stars and Red or Brown Sex Links. They're a hybrid between I believe a Rhode Island Red and a Delaware. They are really great layers. We get these great big almost jumbo size brown eggs every day. Even in all this arctic like weather we've been having in the Carolinas they have been doing what they do best and that's lay eggs. We really do get between 17 and 19 each and every day from our 19 gals. As far as free-ranging is concerned we only let them out about forty-five minutes before dark to run around the yard. They do good and always are back right at dark to go in. My concern is they tend to do the hen squat whenever you reach down to touch them like they're afraid. I doubt they'd last too long free-ranging during the day with red-tail hawks, foxes, and coyotes in the area with that kind of behavior when they get scared. Perhaps with a rooster or two they'd be ok. But overall, if you want eggs, get some Gold Comets.

Two dozen today for $3/dozen. The Girls are still working overtime. Today we got 18 from our 19 Gold Comets! My co-workers buy all I can bring in and they want more. We're planning on adding another 17 GC's in the spring to make it an even three dozen.

sold 2 dozen today for 2.00 a dozen
