How many Eggs did you Sell today?

Sold 10 dozen today. My hens are a combo of RIR's, Welsummers, and Cuckoo Marans, with a couple Buff Orpingtons. And some Wheaten Americaunas. They do very well, especially since I got rid of a bunch of pesky roosters. The hens lay better without those roos pestering them.

Has anyone compared the laying ability of the Golden Comets to the Production Reds? Just wondering.

None today, but I sold four dozen yesterday. We have Orpingtons, Blacks Sex-Links, Gold Links, Australorps, and Plymouth Rocks.

Sold 2 doz. mixed med.-lrg. eggs for $1.50 ea. but now I'm selling more tham I'm getting won't be long 'fore I'm out. And just think a month ago I had 36 doz. sitting around. Oh well, I guess it's a good thing I had some for back-up till my bunch decides to get another gear and come-on, huh?

Mine are laying well, but last year I had about three months of just a couple eggs a day. So this year I am going to hatch out, and buy, some chicks every other month or so, so that I have hens starting to lay right along.

The only problem is that I don't really have the space in the coop to keep them all separated, so I will just have to hope they will all get along. I can keep the young ones in a separate room.

I have not, in the past, had much trouble with pecking, except for one awful day when one of my young Buff Orpingtons got pecked horribly on her head. I have no idea why. I felt terrible, and I had to come in and get my gun and go out and shoot her. Poor little bird. But it is not a common thing here.

I got 29 eggs yesterday, a high mark, and as I mentioned before, they are laying much better now that those pesky roos are out of there.
