Potentially a chicken could lay 365 eggs a year and it also depends on the breed whether it is a laying breed or not. Bird like Leghorns or laying hybrids will lay prolifically whether a Cornish Cross never really lays egg during it's life. Some chickens such as bantams also have a slow start and one of my OE pullets lays every four to five days and my dutch pullet lays every other day. Also since every year the chicken molts it will not lay as much then or if the chicken goes broody it will lay less too. The record for eggs in a day is seven.

Those might not give you the statistics up above but they will give you a good amount of eggs. Plymouth Rocks and Rhode Island Reds are dual purpose birds so they are good for both eggs and meat.

Well technically there are other show birds, it all depends on where you get them because they might not match up to standard.
