How many eggs for a broody hen?

OK, I just got done reading 20 pages and cannot find this info...

And I have stuff to do! So I am asking. I have a broody giant Cochin hen. She has 8 eggs under her, and I am wondering if I can stick 4 or so more under there. I dont know how many she can cover.

i think 10 or 12 but i wouldent puiut any now after she has started to incubate the 8 eggs . they will hatch at differenyt times and the first hatch chicks might pick on the newbees that hatch a week later

Well I just put them under her now, I just wondered If she could do more.

I would say it is fine as long as it is with in 24 hrs and she should be fine with 12.
