Wasn’t sure which section to ask this in😆

Just curious and would love to know what everybody’s average temperature is right now where you are, how many hours of light your chickens are getting, and how many eggs you are getting from your chickens 🙂

I’m asking as I’m in the UK and still getting around 4 eggs a day from 6 hens I currently have, whilst the average temp is about -1°C (30F) in the day and -4°C (24F), with only 8 hours of light a day.
Surely they’ve got to slow down or even stop soon😧
We don’t even particular eat many eggs and have loads spare, I feel as though they need a break 😂

Northern Michigan
About 8 hours of daylight here.
Temps range 12 up to about 34 now days, and snow off and on.
Hens (25) had been taking a hiatus, but up to 6 a day now. Age range of my mixed flock is -1 to 8+.
Customers are happy I have some to sell again.
I too dont eat many myself.
Just love chickens!

I have three 2.75 yo hens, and three 1.5 yo hens. I have one of each laying, about every other day. No supplemental lighting.

It's been chilly, but above or around freezing the past 2-3 weeks. That is about to change in the next few days, and we should have a white Christmas.

Another of my older girls is starting to get redder comb/wattles. All my birds lost a lot of feathers in their molts. Some worse than others. The older hen who is laying was one of the worst ones.

One very important question is missing from your inquiry:
How old are your birds, in months?
Also, are you using supplemental lighting?

All my birds are older than 18 months, and I am getting zero eggs since Mid November.
Sorry I forgot to include that, 2 of them are about 9 months old so been laying since around July/august. The other 4 are around 2 years old.
I don’t use any supplemental lighting as I’m not too fussed about the eggs they’ve become just our pets to be honest.

We’ve just had a snow here, watching them encounter snow for the first time was funny, they wouldn’t walk on it at first😂

I do think mine will slow down soon or even stop
