how many eggs should i expect to get...**UPDATE**....

We have nine young hens (mixed breeds) and get an average of 7 eggs per day. Some days we get 9 and others we get just a few, but generally they are all laying 5 or 6 a week.

If i remember correctly, on average it takes a hen 22 to 24 hours to produce and egg to be laid. But this is an average, so times may vary. But the rule of thumb I learned is 1 egg per hen per day. When they first start laying they may not be consistant, or timely, but definatly over the warm spring and summer one a day per chicken.
