How many Eggs to expect?

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. Your wife has collected some good information there. One thing you might want to add to it is what breeds your layers are (such as the Buff Orpington in your photo) as different breeds have different lay rates. For example 14 Buff Orpingtons will lay more eggs than 14 Cochins, but not as many eggs as 14 Black Sex Links. Of course the ideal count would be if you could separate your breeds and do counts on the individual breeds, but even posting what breeds you have and how many of each can help your reader have some idea of what to expect in eggs, particularly if they have similar numbers of those same breeds. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.

Michael brought up some very good points. Also if you live in a warm, sunny area your birds probably would produce more eggs than same breed in a cloudy , cold area.

Also, keep in mind that pullets will lay all through their first winter. Their second winter will be a different story.

X2 on both of the above posts.
