I got six eggs today. I'm fighting too many broodies at the moment

I know that shorter days slow production down, and I didn't buy any production style birds, but shouldn't I be getting SOMETHING?

Nope! Not without light.

5 today, 2 white (1 double yolker) and 3 brown

Nice to see proper colored yolks! I didn't remember how pale "regular" eggs were until I got out here on vacation.

Word from home is I might have 3 pullets laying now. Daisy (White Rock) has been going for a few weeks. DD2 saw Sophia (Columbian Wyandotte) in the nest today and got a double long egg, maybe she put her first 2 out in one package to save production costs. Then yesterday there was a darker egg. Not sure who would be laying that since I THINK the Austra Whites are supposed to lay a white to light brown egg and I HOPE the EEs will lay blue or green as they are most likely to do but no guarantee.

In any case 1 egg per day now seems to be the norm. Need to stock up for Christmas cookie season.

I got 7 eggs on Monday and 7 Tuesday, but starting to be concerned because 1 of the Buff Orpingtons is laying such a large egg every other day, she has laid 4 double yolker in a row. Is this normal for new layers only been laying a month now any comments or suggestions welcomed

Not uncommon in new layers curious what is calcium content in your feed and do you offer oyster shell free choice ?
