How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

1 today from Sophia. Boy does that girl make a racket after she lays, it isn't even the egg song. I've decided that only she and Daisy are laying so far.

Another dozen today.

I forgot to add that there was an opossum in the chicken yard! I tried to scare it off by poking it with a stick and stuff like that, but it wouldn't move. I finally let the dog in the chicken yard ( she had been barking like crazy). When I finished locking up the chickens and collecting eggs, the dog had the possum out in the dog run. I saw her toss it in the air and then she was checking it out. I called her off and we went inside. I checked later and the possum was gone. So it had been playing possum really well!
Hopefully, it is convinced that it doesn't want to come back here. Time will tell.

Not uncommon in new layers curious what is calcium content in your feed and do you offer oyster shell free choice ?

Feed has 3% calcium and a dish of oyster shells available to them all the time
Today 5 eggs for me

Cool beans then I will see from time to time the girls go for it I use a metal bucket on it side letting the shell fall out but that is just me

6 from the main coop 2 from silkie funny we where getting 4 from the silkie when I was getting 0 from the main coop now a few have started back up the silkie quit

2 today, 40 and 56 grams. Aurora (Astra White) is squatting like crazy. Never have had a broody raised girl squat. So MAYBE Daisy, Sophia & Aurora are laying.
