How Many Eggs??

What is a good number of eggs to put under a medium sized broody hen? With it getting cold out now I dont want to put too many for her to handle when they hatch.

I don't have experience in this area but what I've read/heard would lead me to say about 7 to 8 eggs under a medium size girl.

I'm sure someone with real experience will come along and give you 'for sure' advice.

I was going to suggest 8 this time of year to be sure she can cover them adequately.
