How many foster chicks could a small broody care for?

I have a smallish gold/red sexlink type hen who has gone broody....3 days before I get 26 day olds. Can I try the old trick of putting the chicks under her, or is this too many to attempt? Anyone ever had a broody take care of that many? Maybe just let her take 10-12 of them?
