how many generations, to get purebred?

have just hatched a chick from my Welsummer hen and Barnevelder rooster. if I breed her back to a Barnevelder Rooster, how many generations before I can call it a purebred again?
Just ordered eggs from Boer Johan, so should have a fresh bloodline in the fall to mate her with.
Also have to same question with my BCMs and Welsummer mixes, in with a pure Black Copper Marans rooster.

If you crossed a Barnevelder Rooster over Welsummer Hen there offspring will never be "purebred".
At best you could get 21/32 pure and that will take about 5 generations.
The same would go with you Maran /Welsummer cross.

That in mind every breed originated from cross breeding so in saying that, nothing is purebred, with the exception of the original Gallus gallus.

I've heard it said that in 7 generations of selective breeding, that a trait is set and you should see a great majority of the offspring resemble said trait(s).

In my opinion, for most purposes if all traits match the breed standard as closely as the original "purebred" stock, and so do general breed characteristic such as egg color, etc, then it could be considered purebred. Poultry breeds, like rabbit breeds, are judged primarily on phenotypical expression since there is no registry to keep track of lineage etc.

However, keep in mind recessive traits can lie dormant for many generations only to pop up at the most inconvenient time, and you risk your reputation if you don't offer full disclosure on any outcrosses when selling stock. There are purists who might be seeking stock with no outcrosses for a variety of reasons, and it's only fair to inform them of what they are getting.

Realy not trying to breed any specifics.
I was overseas this winter and a friend looked after my chickens and mixed up some of the coops.
Lost my Barnevelder rooster and thought might as well hatch all the eggs i had from him. All the pure Barnies didn't make it, my bator went to 107 degrees, so was very suprised that even one made it.
I gues i'll throw her in with my eating eggs chicken coop after she is bigger. Even had to buy 2 chicks from a neighbor so she wouldn't grow up alone.
The BCM/Wellie mixes i have for sale, if i can't sell them, those also will go with my free range chickens, that we have for eating eggs.

I've heard of the seventh generation as well and that generation should produce consisency in future offsprings without any throwbacks. Sometimes with the best intentions, the throwbacks do occur.
