Can anyone direct me to a scale? My husband weighs our eggs. They range 45 - 75 gm. I was just wondering where they fall in the official classification which I can't seem to find.
Thanks in advance.

Sizing of Eggs
Size tells you the minimum required net weight per dozen eggs. It does not refer to the dimensions of an egg or how big it looks. While some eggs in the carton may look slightly larger or smaller than the rest, it is the total weight of the dozen eggs that puts them in one of the following classes:

Size or Weight Class Minimum net weight per dozen
Jumbo 30 ounces
Extra Large 27 ounces
Large 24 ounces
Medium 21 ounces
Small 18 ounces
Peewee 15 ounces

I feel kinda dumb right now, but isnt 16 oz a pound I really think that should be grams and not ounces, I would hate to see the peewee chicken that laid an egg almost a pound poor chickie

my bad I just noticed the dozen thing I guess I am dumb

Ingredients: Jumbo Extra Large Large Medium Small Peewee
30 oz/doz ~ 71g/egg
27 oz/doz ~ 64g/egg
24 oz/doz ~ 57g/egg
21 oz/doz ~ 50g/egg
18 oz/doz ~ 42.5g/egg
15 oz/doz ~ 35g/egg

I found this online:

US egg sizes

Egg sizes Average weight

Jumbo 2 1/2 oz (71g)
Extra-large 2 1/4 oz (64g)
Large 2 oz (57g)
Medium 1 3/4 oz (50g)
Small 1 1/2 oz (43g)
Peewee 1 1/4 oz (35g)

While not trying to confuse this further, I need to know the weight of an egg fit for hatching. If Orpingtons should lay a large egg can I hatch the 60g and up? Like BC, our girls lay from 54g to 74g.
