How many hens per rooster?

Wow. I always thought you had to have at least 8 hens per rooster, glad to know it's less. What breeds are your roosters?

My chicks are still too young to sex, but I havr a feeling 3 out of the 13 chicks might be cockerels. We are willing to keep 2 roos, but need to have enough hens to go around. We'll buy more chicks and keep them separate until they grow. I am also interested in the breed of roos you have. The suspects in my flock are Buff orpington, EE, and silver laced wyandotte

I decided i will be keeping two out of the four cockerels! (Buff Orpington And Dark Brahma) I have 8 females right now (6 hens, 2 pullets) but I'm planning on getting more pullets

I have 2 light brahmas, 1 black australorp, 1 white Plymouth rock, 2 barred Plymouth rocks, 1 easter egger, 1 buff orpington, 1 Delaware, and a red sex link

Those are cool breeds! I really want some Easter Eggers and Black Australorps

I have 2 Buff Orpingtons, 2 Sicilian Buttercups (getting rid of one), 2 Dark Brahmas​ (getting rid of one), 1 Barnevelder, 1 Buff Cornish/Buff Orpington Mix, 1 Cream Brabanter and 3 red sex links.

Those are really awesome breeds! I've always wanted the barnvelder breed, but could never find them.I really like the easter eggers because they lay green eggs.Have fun with your birds!

my roosters are brahma, red jungle owl x old english game, and the previous x with ameraucana

the brahma likes the oldest black feathered hens like the australorps and the naked neck
the rjf x oeg prefers the ameraucanas
the rjf/oeg x ameraucana likes the brahmas and the youngest hens

i almost think its a matter of agility and social stature i believe the youngest hens are lower in the pecking order and the oldest birds are the highest and the big clumsy brahma just cant catch the ameraucanas but the smaller rjf x oeg has no problem

I've got 2 roosters and 11 hens and it's definitely not enough. A few of the hens are looking pretty rough. I bought another dozen pullets last week that I'll be integrating soon. I'm hoping that will give the favorites some rest.

I have 2 mixed breed roosters and sex-link hens.
