Hi Folks

I've a young roo, just starting to crow and 2 opr/wyan Xs that are only a few months old. When they are old enough I'll be letting them mingle.

I'm worried I've over looked the amount of hens that the roo will need.

Anyone know the typical hen requirement for a Buff Laced Wyandotte?

I've also got 3 shavers, but have had to separate them as he was getting chased, and even if he could get to the top of the pecking order they would be to quick.

Any suggestions?

Cheers!!

well the accepted amount for any breed of rooster is one rooster to 10 hens. Sounds like you will need some more chickens!

I was told by an Orp breeder that they were lazy and should only have 3 hens max.

So, I was hoping it might be the same for Wyandottes.

They will be free-range, will that lower the required hens he needs?

Cheers
