how many hours a day are one day chicks supposed to sleep?

has been sleeping on and off 3-4 hours now

Oh, they sleep a TON of the day away, for about 3, 4 days. After all, it took a whole lot of energy to kick their way out of those shells, from the curled up positions in which they grew in the egg.
