Hello everyone! I have a question. Is it possible to keep a lot of males together? I bought 7 ducks from TS about 4 months ago, and only 1 turned out to be a female. Can I still keep the other 6 males?

Yes, you can keep them. Have four, now five, drakes that live together. In breeding season I divide them into “teams”. Separated by a short fence. It’s a little more work, 2 waters, 2 food dishes etc. in winter everybody is friends. Late March things go downhill and they start fighting. We don’t know if our new call duck will be in team runner or team pekin, or may need his own pad.
Having one girl with all those drakes is a very bad idea, they will over breed her and possibly drown her. Good news She’ll be easier to rehire than drakes.

Hi Thumper, I've been wanting to ask you what you think about alternating 3 drakes between 8 ducks once the breeding season starts full steam? It's always breeding season in my flock but you know what I mean. I've got plenty of room in my run for partitions and it would be very easy for me to do. I was thinking every day I'd let just one of the drakes have at it and so on. What do you think?

Honestly I don’t think I can answer that. I’ve only got one girl. She lives with two drakes, which is unusual, but one is partially blind, and the other drake is small, and rarely mates with her. They are bonded, the rest of their flock was killed in a predator attack, a their previous home.
I don’t rotate drakes with her. She only likes her 2 boyfriends.

Oh, thanks for the reply. I guess all I can do is give that a try and see if it makes everyone happy.
