How many quail to start off with?

Hey guys, just wondering if you think 6 quail 2 males and 4 females would be a good place to start, I plan on breeding for more birds and will use the birds primarily for eggs but will cull any males produced by my starter birds and I do enjoy quail meet but am primarily looking at eggs. What kind of quail do you want to raise? Cots can do well on a 4 or 5 to one ratio. Taking care of a dozen is not that time consuming. Just a thought for starters.

Thank you, cots yes, I have designed my quail coop to be sectioned off for 4 quail a piece in 3 sections, so the most I can go is 1-3 male to female ratio, thanks for the advice, that shouldn't be a problem should it?

You'll be ok. If your male is too much for them, you can always make a bachelors quarters for him. You will be able tell how they are getting along.
