I raise rabbits right now and I have a shed that I keep them in. I am looking at getting rid of my rabbits. I have alot of people that want to buy all of my breeder rabbits. My shed is insulated and has an air conditioner/heater in it. Would this be an ideal place to keep them? I currently have 8 big cages that was in there for the rabbits. The cages are pretty good size. I think that they would be able to handle more than just 1 roo and 4 hens. Are you able to put more roo's in one cage at a time. Maybe like 2 roos and 15 hens. How does that sound. I have never raised quail before but it seems like something that would be very interesting.

Thanks for all the help.

If your talking Cots(jumbo Brn orA&M) about 1sf per bird, 3 to 1 hens/roo .Guy I know runs 15/5 in one (would guess 3x5 cages ) and has done real well he's got 500+.They get along but when they don't he lets them settle it..cva34

I do 1 male to 5 females.
The ales can be very rough when they mate and the females will wear out pretty fast if you put more males in there. The males can be very aggressive if you put to much males in there and they will fight. Good luck.
They are pretty easy to hatch, 17 days for Japanese contour nix breed and they lay eggs in 6 to 9 weeks.

Thanks you guys. I guess i could have been a little more specific. I would be talking about the Coturnix. Sorry, I am new to this. I found someone down the street from craigslist that want to sell his quail. He said that they were hatched out in October of next year. He has 5 males and 11 females. He was telling me that he was having less fertilization with the 1 to 3 or 4 ratio so this is why he has 5 to 11. Does this sound right, would I be able to put all of them into the same pen or would it be better to put 3 to 6 and 2 to 5. Please fill me in and let me know your thoughts as I am very new to this game and I just want to learn all that I can. So new I do not have any at the moment. He also wants $70 for all 16. How does that sound.

Thanks
Clint
