How many Roo to Hen

Quote:
Obviously I will end up with an uneven number no matter what, since I have 11, and I can only hope it's as close to 50/50 as it can be... So I honestly don't know if I'll be getting rid of any of them right away, but hubby could get pretty upset if I told him that. He's already finished with guineas....and we're just starting.

He's awakened me the last three mornings telling me that another one (or two or three) are out of the brooder, running around the box and pooping on the floor.

I need to move them outside. Today. haha

So even if I keep an even number male/female, I could end up with gay guineas? That doesn't seem fair.

I have 1 male to every 3 female guineas. Some of my females aren't being bred.

Now my roosters cover 10 hens easy...but guineas are different. I'd wait for all 11 to grow out and keep as close to 1/1 as you can. Extra females are ok.....just not too many extra!

I have 14 Guineas with best I can count, 6 males and 8 females. All my eggs are not fertile but most are, which is what you'd expect with 1:1 pairings. However, I did notice a Guinea male cover a Guinea hen that I had noticed previously wasn't paired with any male though -- the reason I can distinguish the hen is because she is my only white Guinea. The rest are Pearl. (so I think possible a Male can have 2 females but probably not common or maybe not continuous -- an 'affair" yikes).
