Oh dear, dear. We have an Emperor Scorpion named Fatso. She is named Fatso because she is the only obese scorpion I have ever seen. So, I have been gone for most of 2 days. The kids and I get home only to discover WHY Fatso is fat. OMG she has given birth! Right now she has 3 live, healthy babies and one she is chowing down on. They are perfectly formed, solid white and mushy looking. so, NOW WHAT???? I guess I am supposed to take them away? I assume she will eat them all if I don't? I have no clue what to feed them or how. I want to care for them well if I can just figure out how. This was a complete shock. We haven't had her very long....she was a replacement for my son's other scorpion who died. I am just about to do some research but thought someone on here may have already done this.

Most people leave the babies with the mom. If you throw in the crickets I think she will spit up the cricket. I never had scorpion babies cause the female scorpion ate the eggs.

Back to the topic: (Stolen from Yahoo answers)

Michael V's research is mostly OK but the mother only cares for the babys for a few weeks. She may have only one baby or there may be as many 35. Keep her well fed to reduce cannibalism (I have only lost one baby to mom in three births). She will tear crickets into smaller pieces and hold the pieces up to the babys on her back to feed them. After about 7 to 10 days the babys will molt and leave moms back. That is when I start feeding small crickets. I have never tried chopped large crickets. I have never seen the babys at this stage climb back onto moms back, but I have seen them shelter under mom. If she doesn't have more in 48 hours she is probably done for now.

Well.....I did some research. What I am seeing says definitely leave them with mom so they can eat and drink. She feeds them.

Ahhhhh......as for feeding them to the chickens....I LOVE my chickens. However, we have paid between $16 and $20 for an Emperor Scorpion here. Those would be some seriously expensive snacks!!!! LOL

Oh, as for Scorpio's who hate (or fear) scorpions.....my husband is a member of that particular club. He is absolutely horrified by our scorpions and yup, he is a Scorpio. Scorpios are hottttttttt.
