How many silkies in a 4x4 mini coop?

Seeing how silkies are bantams, could I pull off 7 in a 4x4 coop? or am I pushing my luck? and whats the smallest I should go?

I'm no expert but I think seven would be a bit much. Especially since Silkies do not roost and they will all be on the ground of your coop. Unless there will be a run attached and the coop will only be for night time lock up.

They'll have a nice size run, they'd only be in there at night. They don't roost? I did not know that! My daughter has 7 show quality silkie chicks coming next tuesday... I kinda want to keep them seperate from the main flocks that I have.. Looks like I need to study up on silkies and fast!

You're in Indiana, so you need to consider their comfort in winter, when they'll spend more time inside than outside.

You could probably fit 5 bantam birds comfortably in a coop that size. (16 square feet)

A 4 x 5 coop would be better (20 square feet).

I would say 4-5 as long as they have an outside run.
