A few days ago I heard the dogs barking an "unusual" bark, so I looked out the window from the second floor. They were standing around something that appeared to be a coiled up snake. The largest dog was snapping at it. I ran down two flights of stairs as fast as I could, grabbed the bush axe and finished off a water moccasin that they had almost killed already. I was thrilled and amazed that none of them seemed to have been bitten. It has only been a few weeks since one was bitten by a copperhead on the face. It made a nasty wound and his face was quite swollen, but I was able to get some Benadryl down him and he recovered.
Earlier in the summer we killed the largest copperhead we've ever seen in the driveway. We have also killed a very large rattlesnake in the driveway.
When I lived in Florida I saw two different snakes in my house, one of which was a rattlesnake -- I was eating lunch one day and looked over to see him on a table nearby!!!!!
I hate poisonous snakes!
